STUDENTS PREPARING FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

Students at UMASS Chan have opportunities to gain educational experiences through international travel. It is recommended that all students who intend to travel abroad, whether a school sponsored trip or personal international travel, plan and schedule a travel visit to obtain any necessary vaccines and/or prescriptions. Some school programs will require a travel visit prior to your trip.

Travel visits should be scheduled 2 months prior to the travel date to allow enough time to complete any necessary vaccines or vaccine series.

Students should first visit the CDC website www.cdc.gov/travel  and search their destination or destinations. This will provide information about recommended vaccines and health risks in the area/s.

Please note:  Yellow Fever vaccine may not be offered through some primary care practices.  Please be sure to check that if this vaccine is needed it is available and can be administered at the location you choose for your travel visit.
