Event Description
Mary Olson, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the UMass Chan Medical School and Adjunct Professor at Smith College School for Social Work. A national expert on Open Dialogue, she is UMMS Principal Investigator of Prep West and Co-Principal Investigator of the Open Dialogue research study at UMMS. She is first author of the psychotherapy fidelity guide, “The Key Elements of Dialogic Practice in Open Dialogue,” which has been translated into 7 languages. Her most recent paper, “An Auto-Ethnographic Study of Open Dialogue: The Illumination of Snow” is forthcoming in Family Process. A highly regarded teacher and trainer, she founded a training program, the Institute for Dialogic Practice, in Haydenville, MA and has specialized in developing new training methods for Open Dialogue/Dialogic Practice. She was Senior Fulbright Scholar (2001-2002) to Finland in the Department of Clinical Psychology at the University of Jyvaskyla. A member of the American Academy of Family Therapists, she maintains a private practice and treats and consults with individuals, couples, and families on a variety of clinical issues.
