Special Circumstances

i. Appointment at associate or full professor
   1.Welcome to new department members! Regardless of rank, UMass-Chan requires that you submit a basic file, which includes CV and 
       letters of recommendation.
   2. Appointments at the level of associate or full professor are considered as promotions; therefore, a narrative statement and
      documentation of educational effectiveness are required.

ii. Adjunct appointments – please submit your CV and a letter from your other Chair stating that your rank is in good standing.
iii. Secondary appointments (appointments in two departments) and joint appointments (two different departments pay the salary) both 
    require a CV and and a letter from both Chair’s in the respective departments.

iv. Tenure Track
Tenure Track appointments and promotions require an even more rigorous process, which includes a required narrative statement and at least five category 2 letters.
