Ongoing CHIP Research at UMass Chan

Researchers at UMass Chan are currently studying the link between blood count abnormalities and mutational patterns, along with the link between mutational patterns and progression.

Supporting the CHIP Clinic

Philanthropic donations, regardless of monetary amount, are welcome by the UMass CHIP Clinic. Donations can be made on a voluntary basis to the Department of Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School. These funds can help develop and sustain our program, which in turn helps us provide the highest quality of care to our patients in the greater Worcester area. Donations will be used to help support the following efforts:

  • Developing clinical trials for CHIP for high-risk patients
  • Banking of research samples (blood and bone marrow samples), which helps us understand these pre-cancerous cells in the laboratory
  • Identifying patients in our local neighborhoods who have low blood counts and testing them for potentially harmful mutations in blood cells
  • Providing education to the community about CHIP
  • Helping support career plans for young adults and professionals who may be interested in pursuing Hematology as a career option

We thank the Department of Medicine Clinical Research Physician Development Pilot Project for supporting our efforts!
