Our interdisciplinary team has expertise in the diagnosis and management of CHIP and associated health risks. Our mission is to provide personalized care for patients with precursor conditions of active blood cancers.

Shyam Patel, MD, PhDShyam Patel, MD, PhD

Associate Professor of Medicine
Division of Hematology/Oncology

Dr. Shyam A. Patel has special interest in hematologic malignancies including CHIP, MDS, and AML. His research focuses on the genomics of high-risk leukemias. He is a member of the Bone Marrow Transplant team and leads the efforts in the CHIP clinic.

Rena Zheng, MD, PhDRena Zheng, MD, PhD

Dr. Rena Zheng is a hematologist with expertise in classical hematology as well as MDS. She aims to deliver comprehensive care to a wide array of patients suffering from hematologic conditions.

Shrinkhala Khanna, MDShrinkhala Khanna, MD

Dr. Shrinkhala Khanna is a hematologist with a special interest in longitudinal follow-up for pre-malignant conditions, including monoclonal gammaopathies and CHIP. She has conducted several quality improvement projects and educational sessions on common hematological disorders encountered in primary care.

Dr. Victor Acosta-Rivera is an academic primary care physician. He emphasizes personalized approaches to preventative medicine and early intervention focused on the patient's well-being. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he is committed to providing accessible and effective medical care to a diverse patient population.

Dr. Lloyd Hutchinson is a molecular pathologist with expertise in the detection of various mutations in patients with cancer diagnoses. His laboratory has the ability to perform next-generation sequencing to detect genetic abnormalities in a wide variety of cancer cells.

Matthew McGuiness, MD, MEdMatthew McGuiness, MD, MEd

Assistant Professor of Medicine
Division of Cardiovascular Medicine

Dr. Matthew McGuiness is a cardiologist with a focus on cardio-oncology. He has a special interest in cardiac care for patients with cancers and can help assess the risk for cardiovascular disease in patients with CHIP. He has expertise in the management of a broad array of cardiovascular conditions.

Chengwu Yang, MD, MS, PhDChengwu Yang, MD, MS, PhD

Division of Biostatistics and Health Services Research

Dr. Chengwu Yang is trained in medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics, and psychometrics. He has expertise in statistical methodologies and analytics involving large-scale data including patients with CHIP. He also has expertise in population health science.
