Event Description
The Projects in Process Seminar Series (PiPSS) is designed to give CCTS trainees and junior faculty an opportunity to present their work in a structured format and in a forum of peers and faculty, with the goal of ensuring continuous, professional feedback and cross-fertilization that is required for excellence in research. The next session will be on Friday, January 24th from 11am-12pm in ASC7.2072 (Albert Sherman Building). Refreshments will be provided.

NCATS SBIR/STTR Presents: Essential IP Advice for Small Business Commercialization, Featuring USPTO Patent Application & Examination Processes

Do you need help getting your research ideas patented? You are invited to join a webinar co-hosted by the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on January 29, 2020 at 1 p.m. ET. Lili Portilla, director of the NCATS Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs, will provide insights to help biotech researchers and entrepreneurs understand intellectual property (IP) protection and navigate the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory approval pathways, which are steps required for the commercialization of new promising technologies. Ram Shukla, Ph.D., an expert Patent Examiner from the USPTO, will share the processes for protecting IP for small business owners, the role that the USPTO plays and resources the small business community should know about.
We invite small businesses and research entrepreneurs with novel technologies to learn how to apply for patents, protect their IP rights and support commercialization in the translational science process. This webinar will also include a live Q&A session, where the speakers will get a chance to answer your questions and collect your feedback.
